The new premium smartphone features the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and a hugely improved camera with Leica optics. Besides, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, the Chinese smartphone maker also unveiled other two models, Xiaomi 12S Pro and Xiaomi 12S. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra comes with a 6.73-inch 2K (3,200 X 1,440 pixels) AMOLED LTPO display with up to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to 240Hz touch sampling rate, 522 PPI pixel density, a maximum of 1,500nits peak brightness and a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

The display also supports all the popular HDR standards: Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG. In addition, it has a DCI-P3 color gamut.

Under the hood, the new premium smartphone is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, which has been built on TSMC’s power-efficient 4nm node process.

The Xiaomi 12S Ultra comes with either 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. It also has 256 GB or 512 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.
Camera
Thanks to the new collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra comes with a “Leica Summicron 1:1.9-4.1 / 13-120 ASPH camera system” covering the triple rear camera setup that houses a 50MP 1-inch Sony IMX989 image primary sensor with an f/1.9 lens. It is also equipped with a 48MP ultra-wide camera with a 128-degree field of view and another 48MP periscopic telephoto camera that offers up to 120x zoom support along with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) support. Further, the 12S Ultra has a 32MP selfie camera shooter at the front for selfies and video chats. Besides having some Leica filters like Leica Vivid, Natural, BW Natural, and BW High Contrast, users will also be able to switch between two photographic styles: “Leica Authentic Look” and “Leica Vibrant Look”. In terms of video recording, the 12S Ultra is the first Android device to sport Dolby Vision HDR video recording. It supports up to 4K @ 60fps recording and playback.
Battery
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra packs a 4,860mAh battery that supports 67W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. It also has a 10W reverse wireless charging support, Xiaomi Surge P1 charging chip to protect the battery from overcharging, and a Xiaomi Surge G1 battery management chip to manage the battery use for further endurance.
Connectivity
On the connectivity front, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra supports 5G, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, Infrared (IR) blaster, GPS with GLONASS, NFC, dual-SIM compatibility, and a USB Type-C port.
Sensors
Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light, barometer, gyroscope, compass, magnetometer, and proximity sensor. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor that also pairs up as a heart-rate sensor.
Operating System
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra runs on the Android 12 operating system and comes with the latest MIUI 13 custom skin out of the box.
Other Features
The new premium smartphone includes X-axis linear vibration motor, 3D cooling system, symmetrical stereo speakers tuned by Harman Kardon, and has Dolby Atmos certification. It is also IP68 dust and water-resistant.

The Xiaomi 12S Ultra measures 163.17 x 74.92 x 9.06mm and weighs 225 grams.
Pricing & Availability
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra is available in Classic Black and Verdant Green and both have a Leather-like rear finish. The smartphone price starts at CNY 5,999 for the base 8GB + 256GB storage option. Further, the 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB storage options are priced at CNY 6,499 and CNY 6,999 respectively. Currently, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra is available for purchase only in China. It is not known when it will be made available for sale in other parts of the world.
